LL: Boone National falls to Morningside American 11-6

Kolson Kruse both hit and pitched well for Boone National, but it wasn’t enough as Boone National fell to Morningside American 11-6 at Memorial Park Field one on Tuesday.

Kolson paced Boone National at the plate. Kolson went 2-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and fifth innings.

Morningside American couldn’t get anything going as long as Kolson was pitching. Kolson held Morningside American hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none.

Morningside American got its bats going early, scoring five runs in the first inning to pull ahead of Boone National.

Easton Voigt racked up four RBIs on three hits for Morningside American. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.

Cooper Carson lasted just 1 1/3 innings on the hill for Boone National before being pulled. Cooper gave up six hits and six runs.

Morningside American got one-run rallies in the second inning and the third. In the second, Morningside American scored on a groundout by Christian Mendoza, bringing home Caden Budde.

A two-run second inning helped bring Boone National within three. An error and an RBI single by Cooper set off Boone National rally. Kolby Moorman to end the Boone National threat.

After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the fifth, Boone National faced just a 7-6 deficit. A fielder’s choice, , and a groundout by Morgan Smith gave Boone National life. But, Kaleb Nutt got Riley Needham to to end the inning.

Morningside American increased its lead with four runs in the sixth. Easton’s single got things going, bringing home Chayce Patterson and Kaleb. That was followed up with a steal of home by Easton.
